Source Festival brings three weeks packed with unbridled fearlessness and sheer nerve. Reviving the Washington Theatre Festival’s rich and storied tradition that goes back almost 30 years, Source Festival reinvents DC’s original arts festival.
Source Festival is 100% new.
New plays. New collaborations. New audiences.
This year's event puts together an amazing slate. A total of 18 selected 10-minute plays and commissioned five one acts. Preeminent local choreographers and playwrights have teamed up to produce seven 10-minute shows from start to finish in 24 hours. And 17 performing and visual artists are paired artists on “creative blind dates” to spark six inventive mash-up projects.
The Festival brings artists together in unexpected ways to present never before-seen live performances. A seasoned actor pairs up with a first-time playwright; and a hip hop musician and installation artist collaborate to debut together on stage. The result is never the same.
